Since 2011, once a parlour for creatures of the night, Mecca Alexandria holds many memories, one of the best specialty coffees in Sydney and more than a million stories. This is not only our headquarters, this is the place we call home.
With the guidance of the legendary architects, Smith and Carmody, Mecca Alexandria has been turned into a fully operational coffee roastery in the back and an industrial but chic specialty coffee shop at the front, this place is the core of our operations, our central nervous system. Down here in Alexandria, things get done.
High ceilings, stone and wood surround this magnificent piece of architecture. The experience of entering through the blue steel-framed gates and the zig-zagged black & white floor —a scene that appears to be taken out of David Lynch’s mind— is reason enough to visit and heighten your caffeine experience.
On the food front, the Alexandria kitchen is far from being shy, it keeps pushing boundaries stepping away from the typical cafe food conventions. Head Chef Brett Barbuto has a strong focus on simplicity, fresh seasonal ingredients and a “going back to basics” ethos. From staples like Chilli Scram, Trout Pancake and French Toast to more modern dishes like the Barramundi Schnitzel; an offering that surely keeps people coming back for more.
